Whether this is your first time thinking about planting a garden or you want to expand your existing garden, observation is the first and most important step when getting started.
This initial 1-hour consultation takes place in your yard and allows us to observe and discuss how the sunlight, water, and wind move across the landscape and around your home while getting a sense for what might be possible in your space.
This is also the time when we will discuss your ideas, goals, and what you like to eat. I’ll share some of the lessons I’ve learned through trial and error in my own garden so that you can take advantage of avoiding the same mistakes. Ultimately, this time is meant to be observational, educational, and as conversational as you would like.
I have two main goals for our time together:
1) You see your yard as a resource that has the ability to grow a lot more food than you might expect and with much less work than you would think and,
2) You are inspired to transform at least a portion of your yard into an edible landscape
Again, this exploration is meant to be free flowing so that you get a sense for what, if anything, makes the most sense for you in your yard. My hope is that you will want to give a garden (even if it is a very small garden) a try!
What does the consultation cost?
Honestly, I don't know what to charge to help you grow your own fruits and vegetables.
What I do know is that I want to encourage and support the community in growing food and changing the way that we look at the supply chain of our fruits and vegetables.
I'm doing this because I truly believe that each of us can make a massive difference in this world with the simple act of starting an edible garden. And that's it.
As I am still at the beginning of this journey of learning through experimentation in my own yard, I would like to initially offer these consultation sessions free of charge.
